My friend @actionphototours and I did a fun hike a while ago. It was cold and there was some ice water involved but it was awesome. Outsidersphoto.com

When I first started Instagram which I believe was 2012. @bejamin was one of the first people followed and I've never been disappointed. I've had the opportunity to shoot with him and he is an amazing person and artist. You are probably already following him but if not, do it!

PC: @denemiles @denemiles is one of the first photographers I followed on social media. Years ago when Flickr was the place to post. Her work is exceptional and I have had the opportunity to shoot with her and she is a fantastic person. If you aren't following her already....

A long and rough road, an unexpected downpour, a beautiful night camping in the desert, a sunrise hike and wading through a river got Emily and I to this remote slot canyon where we were all alone except for this ghost.

This was taken in the same general area as the last Milky Way image I posted but a couple thousand feet higher as I flew over last January. Definitely a flight to remember. • Visit Outsidersphoto.com

A couple years ago my buddy @smh_images and I made the long hike to this formation deep in Canyonlands. We didn't know how it was going to align with the Milky Way but we were hoping it would work. We had plans to meet up with @actionphototours who was getting a later start but I fully expected him to catch up to my slow ass somewhere along the way (he is basically a super human) but that didnt happen. Upon finally reaching our destination in late afternoon I found some shade and took a much needed nap until David ( @actionphototours ) showed up with a surprise guest. @thebard_rafael from @photopills was accompanied him for his Ford backpacking trip. He quickly took us to school on the power of the App showed us exactly when and where the Milky Way would lign up. On a side note, on the hike out the next day almost all of our foot prints from the day before were covered with bear tracks. Although we didn't see any bears their berry laden evidence was everywhere. Bears in Canyonlands, who knew?

I've always enjoyed star trails and this time of year the time it takes to create and image like this gives you something to do, besides sleep, while you are waiting for the Milky Way to rise. My favorite directions to shoot are East and West toward the Celestial Equator to show the stars "moving" in 3 different directions. This works in both the northern and southern hemispheres. • Don't forget to sign up to be the first to know about an exciting an announcement at OUTSIDERSPHOTO.COM
