Бузлуджа : Buzludzha is a peak in Bulgaria synonymous with the sacrifice and strength of Bulgarian resistance. Deeply entrenched in the country’s history of rebellion (revolutionary Hadzhi Dimitâr fought many a battle here) and its socialist swaying in the 70s, the peak is marked almost sci-fi like with its Buzludzha monument, designed by Brutalist-inspired architect Georgi Stoilov.
Flew all the way from SA to shoot the interior (which is quite something, google that) and two hours before we got there maintenance had cemented all entrances for safety. Yes, two hours before. C’est la vie. Still managed to see the exterior which is one helluva trip. (Re-worked / colored for an upcoming series)
