1. Nigeria’s Divine Oduduru, is now officially the second fastest African ever just behind his compatriot and legend Olusoji Fasuba. Oduduru attained this latest feat on Friday night. Oduduru won the 100 meters in 9.86 seconds. About 45 minutes after his heroics in the 100m, Oduduru won the 200 meters in 19.73 seconds, both times wind-legal. Though Oduduru was the Nigeria record-holder in the 200m before Friday’s race, he has lowered the record again with his winning time which is third fastest in the world this year.
2. The EFCC has withdrawn from the corruption trial of a former governor, Danjuma Goje. Mr Goje, a senator-elect, is being prosecuted for allegedly misappropriating N25 billion while in office as governor. The EFCC, which had been prosecuting him for about eight years, unexpectedly announced its withdrawal on Friday. This decision came a day after Mr Goje stepped down from the race for Senate President in the 9th National Assembly. He stepped down on Thursday after meeting President Muhammadu Buhari who reportedly urged him to support his colleague, Ahmed Lawan.

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has issued a notice that it will close the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Apron Gate 1 and some sections of Taxiway F to human and vehicular traffic for six weeks from Friday June 7, 2019. According to General Manager Corporate Communication, Mrs. Henrietta Yakubu, the closure is to enable the contractor handling the construction of the new terminal link the proposed apron under construction to the existing one. The airports managers said the move is to maintain orderliness and ensure safety of operators while the project would last.
