I asked the great Senegalese artist Moussa Sakho to frame some of my images of the Amsterdam Dakar road trip. Inviting African artist to collaborate with me, to give their perspective on my work and to (re) frame my work; connecting Africa and Europe is important for me. Moussa chose together with Noah Saliou three photos that hold good memories for Saliou, and for me as well ;-). Moussa wrote: “At the beach with Saliou” and “Sunset with Saliou”. I very much love the frames Moussa made for us! #framingtheview #framingtheperspective #photography #roadtrip #senegal #panafrican #art #artwork #africanart #africanartists

New York, New York. This amazing city has so many beautiful views but one mostly sees the same images so I decided to capture some of the less known views. I love this building as it almost has a castle like look but when you look closer at the picture you will find other details like a man running. The picture was taken during a walk about in Central Park last October looking at the Fifth Avenue Apartments with the Consulate General of India at the top. Shot with the @getolympus Pen-F and the M. Zuiko 75mm f1.8 ⁣ ⁣ #olympuscameras #olympuspenf #newyorkcity #newyorkcityview #autumn #walkabout #olympusphotographer #autumncolors #framingtheview #memories #capturedmemories #exploringnewplaces #exploringnewyork #charlestonphotographer #newyork #outandabout #ilovewhatido #bestcameras #picturethis #myviewoftheworld

Sometimes the best idea is what to eliminate. You know- Coco Chanel said get dressed and then take one thing off. This drawing shows eliminating a brick sitting wall at the edge of this terrace to open up the view of the campus quad. An idea that could still come to pass! . . . . . . #designforeducation #voithandmactavish @jeffstikeman_architecturalart #landscapearchitecture #insideandout #framingtheview #takeonethingoff #vmalandscape #admissionsoffice #campusquad #quad #millbrookschool @millbrookschool #betterbydesign

You all HAVE TO head on over to ICFF today, tomorrow or Wednesday to see the AMAZING installation by FIT....you will know it by the FIT signature Blue! "Frame Work - The Incomplete Dinner Party" wasa the micro theme for the alumni/students whose works are featured. The booth is a series of frames that focuses in on each project. Major kudos to Suzanne Lettieri who lead a team of alumni, including our own Dace Burkevica (BFA '15) as well as alumni from Visual Presentation and Exhibition Design (VPED) AND Fashion Design. Looks awesome Suzanne and Dave!... #framingtheview #fitinteriordesign #fitartanddesign #morethanfashion #icff #fitblue #fitalumni #fitvped #fitfashiondesign #collaboration #javitscenter @fitinteriordesign @fit_artdesign @fitnyc @fitalumni @icff_official @dacesuna @je_le_office 📸 Credit @suzannelettieri

Congratulations to my uncle #michaelbalston who’s included in @houseandgardenuk ’s top 25 garden designers! His long and successful career has included gold medals at Chelsea, several books, and of course some spectacular #gardens and #landscapes. This pic was from his own garden which I shot back in the early 2000s for a book called 10 Landscapes. . . . #gardendesigner #landscapearchitect #balstonagius #gazebo #gardenstructure #framingtheview #mediumformat #hasselblad #filmpgotography #10landscapes #gardenphotography #jamesbalstonphotography

‘I wanted to make pictures that felt natural, that felt like seeing, that didn’t feel like taking something in the world and making a piece of art out of it.' – Stephen Shore . . A frosty start through the moon gate style sculpture at our project in Surrey. This not only frames the barn beautifully, but forms an “entrance” to a garden space incorporating large fire bowl and bespoke log storage benches. The mild steel sculpture is settling well into its surroundings. This and the mild steel step risers were Designed by @nettles_and_petals_design made by our talented blacksmith 👌🏻
