I've never been able to understand the fun that one gets from drinking/smoking/smoking-up (as if the distinction between these two matters to me). What kind of heavenly pleasure does one receive from "bro, high hona hai" or "I so wanna get drunk", is something beyond my domain of understanding. It might be super beautiful, but I seem to not have the capability to perceive it. And if you'd enlist the 'pros' of getting high/drunk, I can get back to you with the same things you can do while being completely sane. Getting intoxicated is NOT NEEDED to enjoy. Well, I might sound like your dad being all preachy, but this is what I feel.
Every get-together, every celebration, every occasion that I see these days consists of this kind of fun. I'm sandwiched between the age groups that either get drunk or that smokes(up). The notion that has sunk in our heads that these methods are fun, is nothing but a really major folly. And if you reason your choices by saying that you can't enjoy without any such influence, then you're far from realising what happiness and celebration is. Stop taking short-cuts, learn how to actually enjoy.
Eventhough I'm 21, brought up in metropolitans, am decently-educated, and am independent, I still don't want to drink/smoke and that is my right. Know that you have to respect it with all your decorum and senses. My motive behind this lecture-like piece is to inform you that all of these indulgences should be your secondary sources of pleasure and not be the primary ones. Learn to enjoy emotions, humans and the brilliance that life has gifted you with!
Go on, now you can hate me, but do give a thought to what all I just said. And yeah, thanks for calling me uncool, makes me believe in my aims even better. - Abhinavanand Singh
I hope you don't need a glass of something, or a drag of something to enjoy this magic moment.
