Vasaikhi diyan lakh lakh vadaiyan! #Vaisakh is the new year for so many, and has additional significance in Sikh heritage. I'm not the only person who didn't feel like they lived up to expectations of what it means to be Sikh. Often it was someone judging us and telling us we weren't living up to certain standards they created. Through the years I've learned more and found my confidence to embrace the sides Sikhi that best reflect me. Those sides include service to others (Seva) and education (Sikh translates to 'Student'). Vaisakh is also the time of the harvest and on the farm, a time to celebrate the inventory. For us now, it's also an opportunity to take personal inventory on where we are, how far we've come, and where we want to be. We can make time to celebrate our tiny victories, learn from the things that didn't go our way, and share that with others. Just as the farmers prepare their new yield, we can prepare for the next project, the next hustle, and the next goal. I'm very grateful for what this year has brought me and my family, the wins and the losses and am excited for another year! Have a fantastic Vaisakhi everybody, enjoy who you are, and celebrate others for trying to be the most authentic versions of themselves.
